Conversation questions

100 deep questions to ask

For friends, partners, family, someone you have just met, or a notebook. Every question has a follow-up, and each group climbs from light to deep.

Before you start

Four ground rules

  1. 01

    Anyone can pass

Agree before you start that any question can be skipped without a reason. It makes honest answers more likely, not less.

  2. 02

    Climb slowly

Start light and move deeper only when both of you want to. Use the depth filter or the light-to-deep order to keep the ladder in view.

  3. 03

    Ask the follow-up

The first answer is usually the rehearsed one. The follow-up line under each question is there to get past it.

  4. 04

    Listen more than you score

These are conversation prompts, not a test or a form of therapy. Nothing here measures a relationship.
